What a life-changing year this has been! There were ups and downs, sometimes I didn't know I could get up from sinking down so far. But today I can look at it all and say "I am thankful." In retrospect we have so very much to be grateful for, I'm ashamed of some of the blessings I have overlooked. In the longrun, thousands in car repairs, broken air-conditioners, and a water heater flooding the basement, and losing my job (temporarily) were just bumps in the road. Alex was not a bump in the road, his little life had a purpose and I am grateful for my time with him and how he has changed my life.
Here's what I am thankful for:
Here's what I am thankful for:
- My family, past, present, and future
- The snow I am watching fall this very minute
- My husband and his family
- My faith
- My church and church family
- Alex, who made me realize how much I want to be a mother and reminded me of what really matters in life
- My health and the health of our families
- The roof over our heads
- All the things we have that make our house a home
- My job
- My co-workers
- My friends
- My invisible crutches: Everyone who held me up in prayer when we lost Alex, and the many who are still holding us up today.
- A car that gets me where I need to go
- My husband's job
- My husband's determination in continuing school
- My cats who are always around even when I want to be alone
- A housemate to make the mortgage more manageable
- My grandmother's cooking
- The news we are sharing at dinner this afternoon
I'm sure this does not cover everything, but it's a good start. So thankful.
James 1:17
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
Psalm 107:1
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.
